Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu alhamdulillah

Given the fact that we are at the end of December, I decided to answer the standard questions that come during this time frame

and I found one particular question that asked a lot of them together

and so Bismillahi ala alayhi s-beginn, brother Jabir from London

He emails a series of questions, I'm going to summarize them

He is a business owner and he says that during this time frame of obviously the Christmas holidays

He offers bargains because it is a good time to sell merchandise

and he himself purchases goods on discount because obviously of the holiday season

So he wonders firstly that is this something that is permissible

And then he says that he's the employer, his employees carry out activities such as gift exchanging during this time frame

and since of course he is the boss not only does he allow it to happen because every other corporation is doing that

but he also participates in it as well

And then he asks the standard question which I have done before and I'll simply rehash a little bit now

which is about greetings and what is appropriate during this time frame

And then lastly which I found tickling a little bit interesting in inshaAllah

He asks that is it okay for Muslims to look forward to and anticipate this season

despite the fact that it is related to a Christian festival

because they are looking forward to vacation time and spending time with family

So this is a bunch of questions all put together

and I decided to basically tackle this one and shed some light on this issue
