Hello and welcome to the Daily Beans for Thursday, November 4th, 2021.

Today, Republican Glenn Yonkin wins Virginia.

But Dems do pretty well everywhere else. House Democrats are

putting paid family leave back into the budget reconciliation plan. Senate Republicans filibuster

voting rights for the fourth time. And Merrick Garland drops a pair of Trump legal challenges

that blocked federal benefits for same-sex couples. I'm Alison Gill. And I'm Dana Goldberg.

Hey, Dana, how's it going today? It is good. I'm in a strangely great mood today. I don't know why.

Nothing has changed in the world, but I actually feel really, I feel happy today. I am also in a

good mood despite what went down in Virginia last night and despite the New Jersey

race being as close as it was. Yeah. But, you know, we'll talk a little bit about that and some

of the statistics to put everybody's mind at ease. Yes, yes, it is true. I think a Republican is going

to be the governor of Virginia. But I have a couple of thoughts on that. Like maybe the lame duck
