The Bible in no uncertain terms tells you that selfish ambition is wrong and sinful.

But see, there's another kind of ambition that is good and right.

It was ambition that led Solomon to build the temple.

It was ambition that led Nehemiah to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem.

It was ambition that led Paul to extreme measures to spread the gospel to the end of the earth.

Paul even said this, Romans 1526, I have made it my ambition to take Christ where he's never been

named and I'm going to work harder than anybody works at their job.
