Near the city of Krato in northeastern Brazil lives a critically endangered little bird.

It's a little larger than a sparrow and it lives on the slopes of a very small area in the

Arreepae Plateau. And along these slopes it's pretty heavily populated, so almost all the

All right, so I'm getting my gear together to head off on this trail.

stereo microphone set up for recording. A little notebook here. There's quite a few highly venomous snakes here. So I've got these snake-proof gators that I'll zip up to my ankle.
