Summary

Join me every Monday for a quick burst of inspiration on our “Monday Moment” segment.

What week, out of any that I can remember, could we need a bit more meaning, inspiration and joy?

Watch residents in Italy have shown their gratitude to health personnel on the coronavirus frontline by applauding from their windows here. Residents in Spain + Portugal did something similar and these events were coordinated in the locked-down countries through social media.

To help combat fear, isolation and other uncertainty around coronavirus, I created a 21-day challenge to inspire our community to focus on what they can control and to remain ferociously optimistic that their best remains ahead. Sign up for the IN AWE 21-Day Challenge here.

to ensure that it gets off on the right foot. And what week

0:24.3

out of any that I can remember could we need a little bit more inspiration and meaning and a little bit

0:30.1

of joy and a pep in our step as we step into the week than this one? The world since our last

0:37.1

Monday morning moments has changed dramatically.

0:40.6

Borders have shut down. Markets have gone into free fall. Businesses have shut their doors.

0:47.0

Churches and synagogues have said closed. Schools have sent their kids home. The world is a

0:53.8

radically different place than the one that we

0:56.5

woke up into just one week ago. And yet, heroes remain ever present in our lives. And I want to

1:04.4

focus that focus today on our heroes. Normally, when we think of heroes, I think many of us think of actresses or actors.

1:13.1

We think of musicians. We think of celebrities. We think of athletes. We think of the most successful

1:18.4

and known among us. And then the coronavirus shows up. And all those begin to fade a little bit to

1:25.1

the sideline. And then we focus on what real heroes look like.

1:29.1

In Italy this week there was a really cool picture and then eventually a video of these Italians

1:36.7

coming off into their balconies providing a long, rousing, standing ovation to a group of people

1:43.9

going off to work. And no, it was not

1:46.5

basketball players. It was not baseball players getting ready for spring training. It was not some

1:51.6

awesome band getting ready to rock out some massive stadium. The people that these Italians were

1:57.3

celebrating were our health care workers and first responders. They were the only ones

2:02.8

who were able to use the streets to journey away from the safety of their home and venture off to

2:09.6

their work. Their job was to take care of the sickest and most ill of all of us. And they were being recognized for their heroism by their neighbors.
