In the vault, a crisis looms when Tessa discovers the power core that sustains life support needs replacing.

At the same time, a murder occurs in the vault and the suspects, Crichton and Adana, are placed in holding cells. Tessa contacts Rust

in Siena to see if they can help find a replacement corps in the strata. Tessa then heads

south across the deadlands to investigate another abandoned vault to see if the replacement can be found

there. In the strata, Sienna locates the details of a suitable corps in Highgate City, but

the owner of the property, an art dealer

called Valdas, denies any knowledge of the Corps. Later, Siena is able to gather evidence

that indicates the Corps is being used by Valdus in a secret drug operation. She and

Rusk carry out the heist and take the Corps, then loaded on a boat so they can deliver

it to a private location south of the strata.

Tessa agrees to meet them there.

Meanwhile, Crichton and Adana escaped the vault and pursue Tessa,

since Crichton, who possesses a damaged and outdated steel body,

wishes to kill Tessa and take her body parts for himself.

There is a showdown at the exchange.

Adana is killed and Crichton is gravely injured,

barely escaping on the boat.

Tester takes the core and returns with it to the vault.
