Hello and welcome to Sociology 101. Today we're going to be

playing a clip from Dr. R. C. Spruill, someone, I really cut my teeth on when I became a Calvinist.

I read his book, chosen by God, back when I was in college, in one sitting, and then the next day,

I read it again. I was kind of just taken with this newfound theology at the age of 19,

first year in college, and was introduced to this view of God's grace by which he chooses

who he will ultimately save before the world even begins, and he chooses them unconditionally,

meaning without any

condition, nothing that he foresees in them, nothing that he has looked and sees the,

there has favor on them because of something that's valuable in them or something of that nature,

but just totally completely unconditional,

without any apparent reason, at least that we're aware of.

The only reason he chooses certain individuals and not others, according to the Calvinistic

worldview, is because of his own secret, hidden, self-glorifying will.

And that's the reason that some people are saved and others are not, ultimately,

as God's choice, not man's rebellion, not man's resistance against God, not man's sin,

because apparently for Calvinist, God makes this choice before man has done anything good or bad,

and therefore it is completely unconditional. And it seems reasonable to say that even repubation or condemnation is completely unconditional as well.
