Summary

Welcome to the first episode of my Behind Closed Doors: Real Conversations with Real Friends series! This will be a series of conversations with MY people! My friends and family who pour life into me day in and day out. I wanted to take a step away from the interview style for a bit to show you a peek into my life. The conversations that you'll hear are ones that we have regularly on my couch (or on theirs) with coffee in hand!

This first episode is with my dear friend, Shayna. If you ever meet Shayna, you're just a lucky person. I truly don't know anyone who is more kind, gentle and thoughtful and who genuinely just wants the best for everyone in her life. She is one of the mothers that I look up to the most in my life.

On today's conversation, we are talking about a family-day out that resulted in the loss of her finger and the potential loss of another in the thick of 2020. Shayna shares how the healing process and the grief have affected her life and relationship with Jesus. We are also talking about slowing down in life and in motherhood and why she admires the Swedish lifestyle so much that she began implementing it into her own life.

She is one of my very dear friends and I know you will love her as much as I do.

If you enjoy this episode, be sure to listen in to episodes 26, 39 and 66.

Hello friends. Oh my goodness. Welcome to the very first episode of the behind closed doors series.

0:08.6

I am so, so thankful to have you here, especially after my little hiatus with my family,

0:13.2

which was incredible, by the way, very relaxing. But I just want to say thank you so much for sticking

0:19.5

around and just showing up for me and for the living easy ministries and podcasts. I am eternally

0:25.5

thankful for you as always. So behind closed doors is a series that I am really thrilled about.

0:32.2

It is a series of conversations with my people, my friends, my family who pour life into me day in

0:40.0

and day out. I wanted to take a step away from the interview style for a bit to show you a peek into

0:46.4

my world. These people are incredible. They have incredible stories. They are full of wisdom and

0:53.5

encouragement and love and the conversations that you will hear are ones that we truly have on

0:59.5

my couch or on their couch with coffees in hand. I am, as you can probably imagine, if you've listened

1:05.7

to the podcast before, someone who doesn't really do surface conversations. I like to get in depth

1:11.0

quickly. And so my people naturally respond to that. But then I also think I'm just drawn toward

1:16.2

people who are similar in that way. So these conversations are real. They're raw. We're talking

1:22.3

about all of the things. And this first episode is with my dear friend, Shayna. If you ever meet Shayna,

1:30.4

I would say you are just a very lucky person. And I really mean that. I don't know anyone who is as

1:36.8

kind, gentle, thoughtful, and who genuinely just wants the best for everyone in her life.

1:44.9

And on today's conversation, we are talking about a horrific family day out that resulted in the

1:51.1

loss of Shayna's finger and the potential loss of another, which we are still waiting to find out

1:56.1

in the thick of the craziness of 2020. So on top of everything and learning to homeschool her babies,

2:02.5

she lost her finger in a family day out. So she's talking all about how that grief and the shock

2:08.0

affected her life and her relationship with Jesus. And we're also talking about slowing down. I was

2:13.3

really excited to talk to Shayna about this because she is queen of being intentional with her family
