Good evening from New York. I'm Jacob Soberoff in for Chris Hayes. The manhunt for right-wing

activist Charlie Kirk's killer is ongoing at this hour. We were supposed to hear from FBI officials

on the latest updates in the search this afternoon, but that press conference was canceled,

or when we will hear any additional updates. This morning, the FBI released these photographs of a

person of interest in the case. It is the latest of what has been a flurry of potential suspects in this

crime. About 24 hours ago, FBI director Cash Patel said that a, quote, subject was in custody

before backtracking shortly after and announcing that the individual in question had been cleared

following an investigation. And so, at this time, the shooter

remains at large, although law enforcement says a weapon has been recovered. We have recovered what we

believe is the weapon that was used in yesterday's shooting. It is a high-powered bolt-action rifle.

That rifle was recovered in a wooded area where the shooter had fled. The FBI laboratory will be analyzing this weapon.

Investigators have also collected footwear impression, a palm print, and forearm imprints for analysis.

Now I understand there are a lot of questions about motive.

I assure you that all leads, tips, and tips are being fully investigated.

That last point is crucial. We do not yet know the motivation for this crime. President Trump was asked about this today.
