This Thursday, January 30, we come on the air the morning after a mid-air collision near Reagan

National Airport in D.C. between a regional jet and a military helicopter. 64 on the plane,

three on the helicopter. Not a lot of details yet. I spent a lot of time last night following

the coverage. We're assuming that you, if you're listening, if you're watching, you've been

paying attention as well. It's an unspeakable tragedy. It happens very rarely in the modern aviation system in America.

But when it does happen, it is something that gets our attention.

And it is something that triggers feelings of sadness, despair, concern, worry.

But we're here, number one, to acknowledge what occurred and to make it clear that we're

focused on that, but we also have a separate obligation to provide a diversion for those who need a break from the coverage,

who are feeling the weight of the emotion.

And it was more than appropriate for us to acknowledge it, to talk about it a little bit,

but we will otherwise continue to do what we do every day because people, as I've learned over

the years, need that.

And a day like today, people are going to need it more than they

needed other days chris yeah pretty crazy i mean you're right you would just been so long

since we've seen something like this happen like i was shocked when i turned on the news last

night like what it colloquy how does that happen uh you know just shocking it really is

thoughts and prayers to people out there that have got family involved in all this.

But, yeah, you just would think with modern technology, these are the things we can avoid.

But we know we got a lot of things flying in the air, and obviously something messed up there.

And, man, it's just, it's crazy.

It's crazy to think that can happen.
