Summary

Of the characteristics of the believer is that he is always of cheerful countenance. Abdullah b. al-Ḥārith said, "I never saw anyone smile more than the Prophet (SAW)," and Jarīr b. Abdullah remarked, "I never saw the Prophet (SAW) except that he smiled when he saw me."And our Prophet (SAW) encouraged us to be charitable with our smiles, and said that every smile is counted as an act of worship that we shall be rewarded for. As well, the Prophet (SAW) would regularly laugh (although his laughter was always dignified and just a step more than a smile), and even crack jokes and pull pranks. So the believer is cheerful, and brings cheer to other people - in contrast to some religious folks who seem to think that scowling at people is somehow a mark of religiosity! Smile, it's Sunnah !

1:19.0	Smiling, having a positive countenance, always having a cheerful attitude.
1:25.0	He said, he is living in Medina, so he is coming to the master of every single day.
1:32.0	He said, I never visited or saw the Prophet ﷺ except that he smiled when he saw me.
1:40.0	Every single time the smile was there.
1:43.0	Abdullah bin Al-Harith, another Ansari, he said, I never saw anybody smile more than the Prophet ﷺ.
1:51.0	I never saw anybody smiling more than the Prophet ﷺ.
1:56.0	And when one of the sahaba described him, he said that the Prophet ﷺ was Bassam al-Bahaka.
2:04.0	Bassam always smiling.
2:06.0	Bahaq always laughing a good mood.
2:09.0	So he is describing the Prophet ﷺ as always being of cheerful countenance.
2:14.0	And this act of smiling is something that our Prophet ﷺ advised the righteous to do.
2:21.0	He told us to be amongst those who are smiling.
2:24.0	He said, never trivialize any good deed, even if you meet your brother with a smiling face,
2:34.0	Allah will count that as a good deed.
2:36.0	And he said in another Hadith, tabasumukafi wa qaqaqa,
2:40.0	smiling when you see your brother is a type of Sadaka that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala will reward you for.
2:46.0	So to be of cheerful countenance and subhanAllah, I have to say sometimes, sometimes,
