Summary

Shaykh Dr. Yasir Qadhi gives a commentary on verses 21 and 22 of Surat Ibrahim which talks about the confession of Shaytan and what steps we can take to protect ourselves from the influences and tricks of Shaytan. The gist of this verse lies in the fact that Shaytan simply whispers in the ears of mankind and people blindly obey without controlling their Nafs. But, in the Hereafter, we will come across Shaytan admitting his great deceit and treachery and will confess that he had no power over us yet we succumbed to him in the moments of weakness due to lack of Iman. "And Satan will say when the matter has been concluded, "Indeed, Allah had promised you the promise of truth. And I promised you, but I betrayed you. But I had no authority over you except that I invited you, and you responded to me. So do not blame me; but blame yourselves. I cannot be called to your aid, nor can you be called to my aid. Indeed, I deny your association of me (with Allah) before. Indeed, for the wrongdoers is a painful punishment."  The numerous ways in which we can keep the effects of Shaytan at bay: Ikhlas  Isti'adha  Saying Bismillah  Indulging in Dhikr which includes reading the Quran  Surrounding oneself with the company of righteous people
