Broadcasting behind enemy lines tonight's episode does theDS Church continue to hide its history?

In recent episodes, we have spent some time going over the contents of the various

First Division accounts given by Joseph Smith.

As you will recall, those accounts are given in 1832, 1835, 1838, and 1842.

We know that the 1832 account is problematic in that it contains contradictions with the

official account or the 1838 account which has been canonized and is now

contained in the Pearl of Great Price in the scriptures of the LDS Church.

We will review some of those contradictions and problems as we go along with this podcast.

We know at a minimum that Joseph Fielding Smith, the church historian at the time and also

apostle in the LDS Church, was so concerned with the contents of the 1832

account of the first vision that when he discovered it in the 1930s he removed the offending

pages from the letter book in which it was contained and hid them away in his

safe for three decades. So the church definitely

suppressed this first vision account for at least 30 years until it reluctantly brought it to light because knowledge of the existence of this strange account of the first Vision had gone public.

We also spent an episode discussing the 1835 account

of the First Vision and how it looks like that account

was probably suppressed for about hundred years as well.

Being kept as it was from the knowledge of the membership of the church

until 1966 when it was first published.

But now we have entered into a new day of transparency in the LDS Church. No longer are they continuing

to try to hide the First Vision accounts which they are no longer able to hide. But instead,
