President Oak starts off the line up on Saturday morning with the talk titled, Helping

the Poor and Distressed.

While Elder Oak's mentions three examples of charity work done by non-Mormons, the Mormon

God gets the credit for inspiring all charity work through the light of Christ.

Elder Oak said these examples do show that God inspires many organizations and individuals

to do much good.

But that comes later in his talk.

Elder Oak's first brings up the new church calculation of their charitable donations,

which has stayed steady for a number of decades at around $250 million per year.

Then in 2021 it suddenly shot up.

Elder Oak said a few months ago the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints reported

for the first time the extent of our humanitarian work worldwide.

Our 2021 expenditures for those in need in 188 countries worldwide totaled $906 million,

which Elder Oak's clarifies for those in his audience who are not good at math.

He says almost a billion dollars.
