As most of you know, I was baptized into the church, the LDS Church, at the age of 18 back in 1978.

At that time I learned a lot of very, very flattering things

about the LDS Church, how great it was, how true it was,

and how it really, really was a restoration of the gospel and

the church that Jesus Christ established 2,000 years ago.

The missionaries who taught me, as well as other friends who were members of the church,

enjoyed regaling me with all the different signs of Mormonism that hooked up and matched the church in the New

Testament, thus proving that the LDS Church is true.

One of those signs was that the LDS Church, so I was told, had no paid ministry.

Nobody got paid for volunteering in the church. Nobody got paid for volunteering in the church.

Nobody got paid for serving in the church.

Bishops did not get paid for their service.

State presidents did not get paid for their service.

And so on up the line all the way to the profit. The profit did not get paid for his

service and the apostles as well did not get paid for their service. None of the general

authorities got paid for their service because we have an unpaid clergy or an unpaid ministry.

It's sometimes referred to either way, but the common denominator being unpaid.
