broadcasting behind enemy lines tonight's episode part two 2 of The Illusion of Agency.

In Part 1, I went over the fact that the freedom to choose, sometimes called Agency

in the Eldias Church, is a cornerstone of Mormon doctrine.

We frequently hear how God's greatest gift to his children

is the freedom to choose, and how that freedom to choose

should never be curtailed or undermined.

And in fact, trying to curtail the agency of man and woman

and undermining it was the chief goal of Lucifer

when he presented his plan to save humanity in the Grand Council in heaven

before this world was.

I then looked at several examples of how it is that the LDS Church and its leaders seek to curtail the agency of its members.

And specifically to curtail it in such a way is that all their freedom to choose ends up being the freedom to choose to do what the leaders of the church tell them to do.

The funny thing about this is that this whole idea of doing a podcast on the illusion of agency came to me when I was listening to the

worldwide young adult devotional given on May 3rd 2020 just a little over a month

ago now by elder Robert Gay and his wife Lynette.

The reason it's funny is because even though this talk, this worldwide devotional by the Gays,

is what led me to speak on this subject, I went for over an hour in part one of the

podcast and never even got to their talk. But tonight I want to get into the

twin talks by Sister Gay and Elder Gay. They spoke in that order on Sunday, May 3rd, 2020.

And taking a global view of their two talks put together, it seems apparent to me that
