broadcasting behind enemy lines tonight's episode the illusion of agency.

In the LDS Church, the doctrine, the fundamental principle of agency or the freedom to choose

is at the heart of Mormonism.

Mormonism teaches that all of mankind existed

pre-mortemly in the spirit world,

and that not only did they exist pre-mortemly,

but that they were present at a grand council in heaven before they came to

this earth.

And in that grand council, Heavenly Father put forth his plan as to how mankind could be saved. His plan required a savior, a

redeemer, one to come to this earth and make an atonement, and Jesus Christ

came forward and volunteered for the job.

Lucifer, on the other hand, came forward with a different plan.

What he argued was a better plan.

But God said, no, we're not gonna do Lucifer's plan.

We're not gonna go that route because that plan would deprive

mankind of their freedom to choose. It would deprive humanity of their agency. And a third of the

host of heaven sided with Satan, and two-thirds sided with God and Jesus.

And there was a great war in heaven.

This is the Mormon story about the Grand Council in heaven and the War in Heaven which was fought over the
