Today is priesthood restoration day. It was on this day May 15th in 1829

191 years ago if I have my math correct that John the Baptist appeared and

conferred on Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdrey the ironic priesthood

on the banks of the Susquehanna River. So I didn't want to let today go by without making that announcement.

In tonight's episode I continue my conversation with Jonathan Streeter from

thinker of thoughts and stuff on the subject of Joseph Smith's practice of polygamy. And specifically,

the incident involving his plural marriage to the daughter of Elizabeth

Whitney and Newell K. Whitney, the daughter named Sarah Ann Whitney.

We started talking about this fascinating story of this one plural marriage of Joseph Smith in part one, and we continue that discussion tonight in part two.

There will be a part three of this discussion as well.

The totality of our discussion lasted three hours if you can believe it.

At this point in our discussion, we were talking about the spiritual blessings and the guarantees of salvation that Joseph Smith was offering not only to Sarah Ann Whitney if she married him, but also to her parents

Newell Kay Whitney and Elizabeth Whitney, that if the parents agreed

to give Joseph Smith their newbile young daughter

as a plural wife, then their salvation

and indeed their exaltation would be assured.
