It is now June of 2019 as I record these words and it has

been just over a year since Daniel Peterson wrote his now infamous article for the Deseret News on May 31st, 2018.

The title of that article was,

Defending the Faith, the supposed scandal of multiple first vision accounts.

Now as most listeners to this podcast know, Daniel Peterson is a professor of Islamic

studies at Brigham Young University, but he is perhaps best known as being the current reigning

godfather of Mormon apologetics.

And as such he has written a number of books and papers on the subject of Mormon apologetics and also writes a regular of he set forth what he intended to be a defense of the multiple first vision accounts authored by Joseph Smith and in the course of that column Daniel Peterson engaged in the typical Mormon apologetic tactics of withholding information from his readers, as well as spinning information for his readers.

But in that column he went a bridge too far and actually stated something that was flat out not true. It was false, it was,
