As listeners to this program will recall, Radio Free Mormon is engaged in an ongoing effort

to obtain an unredacted copy of the BYU police reports related to their

investigation of Joseph Bishop for allegedly raping McKenna Denson in 1984 at

the MTC in a special room in the basement of the MTC when

McKenna Denson was a sister missionary at the MTC and Joseph Bishop was the

president of the MTC.

When this story hit the fan, during the week of March 19, 2018,

the press requested a copy of this nine-page police report by the BYU Police Department in response

to that request. The BYU Police Department did release a copy of the police reports

but it was almost entirely redacted in other words almost

every line in it was blacked out so that it could not be read not satisfied with

this response the press pushed back and in response to the pressure they put on

the BYU police department a second version of the nine-page report was

released which was much less redacted.

Now when I say less redacted,

the second version of the police reports

could almost all be read,

but there were still several lines within the police report on different pages that remained redacted.

And so it seemed reasonable to conclude that whereas originally the BYU police did not want any of the reports to be able to be read. In the second
