Summary

#3: In this episode, I am in the "hot seat". My husband, Jordan Carpenter, interviews me and we share a bit more on how it how it all got started and why I created my blog in the first place. Contrary to what many think, I didn't have the confidence to pursue my blog full-time and leave my desk job. On December 3, 2015, I was fired unexpectedly from my job at a CPG brand as their Earned Media Manager. This led me to pursue my own brand full-time and embark on this crazy journey running my food blog and Instagram full-time. I chat about my brand partnerships and how those came about, answer a handful of your questions about the behind-the-scenes over here and I open up about the in's and out's of running my business solo.  For more from me, follow along @rachLmansfield and pre-order my cookbook, Just the Good Stuff. Thank you, Garden of Life, for sponsoring this episode. I share all of my Garden of Life favorites here.

Hello everyone and welcome back to another episode of Just the Good Stuff.

0:08.8

This is your host, Rachel Mansfield, and I'm going to sound like a basic bitty over here, but

0:15.3

guys, I can't believe it's December.

0:17.3

It's already December.

0:18.9

How did 2019 go by this quickly? I will never understand.

0:23.2

This year was amazing. It was a blur. It was filled with so much joy, a lot of challenges, a lot of

0:30.7

struggles. But there were so much growth. And I'm a little shaky. I'm a little emotional right now.

0:36.9

So bear with me because tomorrow is the

0:40.5

anniversary of when I got fired from my job four years ago, December 3rd, probably around like 132 p.m.

0:49.8

I cannot, I still remember. I was so distinct in my mind.

0:56.6

And I'm sharing the story with you guys today. And not just am I on the episode that we're going to get to very shortly, but Jordan,

1:02.6

Carpenter, my husband, my partner in crime, my baby daddy, he's here and he is actually

1:09.2

leading the interview.

1:13.8

So I want everyone to give Jordan a round of applause. And I am so proud of you, George. I know this is totally going out of your comfort zone.

1:21.5

For those of you who know, Jordan personally, you know that he is like the kindest, most mild

1:27.1

mannered, sweetest human, but he does not like to do things like this, go on a podcast, talk a lot for a little over an hour. Every time I try and record him on my Instagram stories, he gets a little embarrassed. He's like, no, no, I don't think what I said was right. And I'm like, dude, that's the point. You're supposed to just not think. You're supposed to just do it. Be yourself. And he is such

1:48.7

an amazing human. So I'm really, really excited for you guys to hear more from him. And now that he's

1:54.6

kind of broken in to the podcast space a little bit more, I want him to come back on. and we can do like a couple's Q&A type of thing

2:03.9

because I have been receiving a lot of requests to bring both my mom and Jordan on the podcast.

2:10.4

So if that is something that we are interested in, please let me know. I would love to schedule

2:15.8

something like that soon. But I want to talk to you guys

2:19.6

a little bit about this episode. For those of you who don't know, I was fired from my job,
