Summary

With the Cheltenham Festival just around the corner, we take a different approach to the formbook by diving into RaceiQ data with Racing TV analyst Page Fuller. RaceiQ uses GPS tracking technology to measure performance metrics such as jumping efficiency, stride length, entry speed into obstacles, and finishing sectionals, offering a completely different perspective on how horses perform in top-level races. Page joins Emmet Kennedy to analyse the key metrics behind the leading contenders for the biggest races at Cheltenham, highlighting the performances that stand out in the data and identifying the horses whose numbers suggest they could have a major impact at the Festival. Page has produced Racing TV’s Cheltenham Festival RaceiQ data pack covering all 13 Grade 1 races. The aim isn’t tipping winners, but identifying the performances and metrics that stand out in the data and understanding what they may tell us about how these races could unfold. 🏇 RACES PREVIEWED Supreme Novices’ Hurdle Turners’ Novices’ Hurdle Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle JCB Triumph Hurdle Arkle Novices’ Chase Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase Champion Hurdle Close Brothers Mares’ Hurdle Stayers’ Hurdle Queen Mother Champion Chase Cheltenham Gold Cup 📊 WHAT YOU’LL GET FROM THIS EPISODE RaceiQ data insights from Racing TV analyst Page Fuller Performance metrics for the key contenders in the Grade 1 races Analysis of jumping efficiency, stride patterns and sectionals A different perspective on Cheltenham form using GPS tracking data 🧠 WHY THIS EPISODE MATTERS Cheltenham races are often decided by small margins, and traditional form study doesn’t always reveal the full picture. Welcome to the Final Furlong podcast Race IQ special for Cheltenham

0:21.2

2026.

0:22.4

With the festival fast approaching, we're going to be using Race IQ's GPS technology, capturing stride patterns, jumping efficiency, entry speed into fences and hurdles, and the finishing sectionals to give us that different perspective on the form book with the always brilliant Paige Fuller. Welcome back to the show, page. Thanks having me again. And we're going to go straight into the action because we've got a lot of

0:39.5

racing to cover. So we're going to go straight into the action

0:38.8

because we've got a lot of racing to cover.

0:40.2

So we're going to first of all look at the Supreme Novice Erdle

0:41.8

where the favourite with 1XBed in Ireland is All Park Star for Nicky Henderson. But what does the race IQ day to tell us about him and the leading contenders for the Supreme? The key thing for me with old parts are is, you know, we know it to count them that from the top of the hill,

0:55.8

you've got to be able to sustain your speed down the hill. You've got to be able to quicken up

1:00.1

with the field and then also maintain it up the home straight. And I think that for me is what

1:05.9

Old Park Star has done exceptionally in his races so far.

1:19.2

So to contextualise his sort of finishing pace, I know that it's a sort of not necessarily an Apple versus Apple comparison, but All Part Star is the only horse to have completed a final

1:24.9

half mile in less than 53 seconds. And he's done that on two

1:28.2

occasions. So he's displayed the sort of sustained speed that he needs. And actually his final

1:34.0

half mile at the track in the December meeting sits in the top 10 fastest final half mile

1:41.6

at the track. And we're taking that from about, you know, just over 2,000 runners. So, you know, granted, I do think at the December meeting, the ground was a bit quicker than the jockeys were expecting it to be. So he had a lot of fast finishes at Cheltenham at that December meeting. But he's demonstrated that sustained speed. I think you need to win the supreme novices hurdle.

2:02.1

Talk to talk, I know, is a horse who's dated, the DRF you're very impressed with.

2:05.4

And El Chiross is basically the fastest horse than the lineup overall.
