Is there a Vatican takeover by S.Js under the Pope Francis Pontificate?

Over the last week and a half, two interesting quiet stories have floated over the internet.

One on National Catholic Reporter, the other on LifeSight News by our friend Diane Montegna.

The first one was by Joshua McElwee on November 25th entitled,

France's appointment to Jesuits to lead Vatican offices and anomaly in church's history.

I want to reference that one first, but it's an important way to frame the discussion and the analysis by saying,

this is utterly unprecedented stuff that the SJs are being appointed

at such a high rate to office. It's actually an intentional disavowal that if we look through

history, according to Diane Montegna, it seems to have happened. Isn't it, Dave?

Well, I think the issue with it, yeah, it's a bit unprecedented in terms of the Jesuits

who obviously have eschewed the notion of seeking higher ecclesiastical office unless they're duty they're called upon

by duty as a faithful priest to do so so they're not supposed to be going looking for like the limelight

...
