Yeah, and Italy is the defending champ. This is their third final in three straight years. So are you surprised at all by this matchup, just looking at the rosters? No, these were the two best teams coming into the week. These are the two that shaped up well. The only really weakness on any of the teams is maybe the second singles position for Italy with Cochoretto. She's one in one this week, but she's ranked 91 in the world, right? Going against the other three singles players, I don't know where Emma is. She's somewhere just outside the top 10. Just Pagula's always in the top five. Paolini is always a fixture in the top 10. And Arani, one of the best players, doubles players in the world. And if she's not the best in the world at doubles, guess who is? Taylor Townsend. Right. So these are just loaded lineups start to finish. But no surprises here. not to say that there haven't been challenges, right?

Like Italy's come down to the final doubles match, which is a position they like to be in.

And USA, straight out of the gate, having to play Kazakhstan and deal with the Rabakana of things.

But no, I don't think there are any surprises. I don't think anyone looking at this draw is shocked by the fact that the U.S. and Italy are in the final. They're the best two teams in this competition. What is the messaging from Team USA captain, Lindsay Davenport, in the locker room? You know, I mean, if they take the first one, they're feeling pretty good about not running the risk of heading to that doubles matchup against arguably the best team on the planet. Yeah, I don't think,

I don't think Lindsay's going to say we have to win the first two singles matches. Like, I don't know that that's how you present it. It's more, let's just go out. You know, she's thinking in the back of her mind, I don't want this to be a flip of the coin where Arani is involved, right? I don't want that scenario where Italy is going, if you gave Italy right now the chance, it's like,

okay, let's just take it to the doubles and play the doubles for the whole thing.

They would, they like, okay, let's just take it to the doubles and play the doubles for the whole thing. They would do that. That's probably where they expect to be with Coach Eureto kind of not being one of the higher ranked players in this tie. You know, they hope Paulini wins Pagulli. You know, but if someone wins two zero, it's most likely going to be U.S. that does that, right? They're the most likely to dominate the singles and take the doubles out of the equation, which is something they're going to want to do. I haven't talked to Lindsay this week. I'm so happy for her. I'm so proud's weird because it sounds condescending, but I am proud of her. I'm proud of the team USA. But they're up against it, man.

Italy, they're not big in stature, but they're big as far as their hearts. They are, they are just monsters in this competition. You mentioned the U.S. has won this thing 18 times. Yeah. Like to make a 19. I'd, uh, stretching back to Fed Cup days. Yeah, trying to stay neutral, but this would mean the world of Lindsay Davenport. I know this would mean the world of Jess Pagula, Emma Navarro. I mean, they won't last year of the Italians. Who cares? So if it does come down to this, to the doubles matchup, you know, what is the strategy for team USA against this juggernaut? Well, when you got to pick your team? You know it's going to be Taylor Townsend. I don't know how just his body physically. Another factor that I'm not, I'm going to answer your question eventually is USA playing back-to-back days, having played three setters each, each of their singles lineup, right? italy probably a little bit more rested they got another day you know while USA was playing gb

If she somehow gets upset, it's a lot to ask to beat Palina and Iranian doubles and then Palini and singles. So I think it's all going to come down to that second single spot, which I think Emma Navar will win. So if I was to put you on the spot and pick a winner. US is going to win this thing.
