Are the centre ever going to get organised and fight for what they believe?

No, because we're too busy doing podcasts. Not possible. You can't do everything, Rodney. Rod, if I may. People really call Rodney.

Rodney's a fabulous, you know, only fools and horses. Yeah, yeah. Or indeed, and Keir Starmer's

middle name. Yeah. It's his father's name. Rodney Marsh, who's played for Queen's Park Rangers. Rodney the donkey farmer from Oxford.

It's a really interesting question. I think that actually I may be completely wrong on this,

but one of the effects of the rise of the populist politics on the right and so maybe the identity politics on the left is that actually the centre is kind of making something of a comeback

because it doesn't look so much boring centrist dad stuff.

It looks like maybe there is an argument to be had there and arguably Kirstama's election victory last July was a symbol of that.

Also I think that the centre itself has always been a nebulous concept. And in modern politics, which is split on so many

different axes, is increasingly irrelevant, or is a term which, you know, doesn't mean,

if it ever meant very much, doesn't mean very much now. If you buy centrist, you basically mean

socially and economically liberal, then, as you say, there is still a
