Personally, if it means that I will get even just better protection from scammers and better communication with customer service, I would absolutely pay for it, let alone the visibility and reach.

Meta announced recently that they will be starting a paid subscription service called meta verify.

Here's what the head of Instagram Adam Masary had to say about it.

Let's talk about verification.

We're offering a new service called meta verified.

And what this is is a subscription actually to a whole set of services.

And the first is verification.

Now we're going to use a government ID to verify

that your picture and your name match that on your Instagram or your Facebook profile with that

government ID. By the way, you have to be 18 or older. And with that comes proactive impersonation

monitoring on your behalf, as long as you have that subscription. The second feature is increased

reach and search,

in comments, and in recommendation services like explore. And the third is live chat support,

so that there's someone that you can talk to, a real person when you're having a problem,

to get the answers that you need and quickly. Now, this is our first step into the space of subscriptions.

And we see this as an industry-wide movement. We've seen YouTube, do so, Twitter,

do so, Discord, Reddit, and others. So we want to start carefully by testing this in the countries

of Australia and New Zealand before we expand, hopefully quickly, to the rest of the world, including the US.
