This is a global player original podcast. It's the election Q&A. And we're going to start with a queue.

0:18.4

Dear newsagents, love the podcast, especially now we're gearing up towards a general election. I'm from Anglesey. So my question, is there any other constituency that's been held by four major parties at one time or another? Labour, con, lib, plied, etc. Inisman, two Welsh listeners at this point, Anglesey is In Isman.

0:39.1

Oh, sorry.

0:39.9

It's fine.

0:40.3

That is the official name of the constituency, of course.

0:42.9

Oh, okay, okay, everyone.

0:44.9

Were you going to answer the bloody question?

0:46.6

The answer to the question, it's a lovely question, love this question, right up my street.

0:50.7

Look, there are a few that have had four.

0:52.5

I mean, it's quite unusual.

0:53.9

It's not completely unusual. One that might surprise people actually is where it would be true is Brighton, Brighton Pavilion. So people... They've never had a plied, but they're saying... They're saying...

1:05.0

They're saying...

1:06.0

They get everywhere. They're completely ignored the question. You feel like a politician. No, no, no, no. It says by four major parties, not just plied. This is not just, well, Alan is not being so prescriptive. It's just talking about four in general. Otherwise, he's answered his own question, which is Enis Mon. But Brighton, for example, has had conservative, liberal, Labour and now green. And I might surprise people because, of course, about think of brightening a very progressive kind of left-wing sort of place.

1:30.3

Even as recently as the 80s it was a conservative constituency.

1:33.3

Although actually on the applied point, here's a good one, right, which is the only, I'm going to ask my own question,

1:38.3

which is the only mainland British constituency to have been represented by an Irish nationalist party? That is not the question. No, but it's the plied. It's the plied point, right? It's the plied point, right? So it's going back to what John was saying about nationalist. So hang on. British mainland seat. With an Irish nationalist party? So this particular seat has been represented by four, and one of them, so it is answering the question by four different parties and one of them was an Irish nationalist party. So this particularly seat has been represented by four and one of them, so it is answering the question by four different parties and one of them was an Irish nationalist

party. Which probably isn't a major party. Well, it doesn't exist anymore. It was an

2:10.5

old party which doesn't exist anymore. I tell you what, if we don't get on with the rest of the

2:15.0

episode, if we don't get off with the rest of this episode

2:18.5

and you don't shut up, Lewis Goodall, this episode's going to go past.

2:21.9

The answer is Liverpool, Scotland constituency, which had an Irish nationalist MP until partition
