Welcome back to the morning mindset. I hope you are ready to get your mind

aligned with the truth of God. If you're not, just take a moment, take that deep

breath, let your mind kind of empty of all the

concerns of the day, and let's get ready just to listen very intently to what

the King of creation has to say to us through his word.

The Word of God is powerful.

Scripture says it's living and active, sharper than any double-edged sword.

We've got to take that seriously and utilize the truth and the wisdom

that it provides for us for our daily living. We're doing that by looking at

Philippians chapter 2.

Verse number 3 is where we left off, where the Apostle Paul, in helping the

Philippians deal with a conflict in their midst, said, do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit.

But in humility count others more significant

than yourselves.

Now yesterday I said this is one of the most countercultural statements I can imagine the

apostle saying to us because it is so diametrically opposed to the rugged individualistic

lifestyle and message that we hear and see in our world.

But what is he doing?

What is he recommending here?

He's saying that we take on the same attitude God himself has.

Because if you think about it, God is the most powerful, the most self-sustaining, the most self-sufficient being who exists.

And yet he, in humility, considered our needs more important than keeping up the status quo.
