Summary

Jason Davis returns to the show and, as always, we get sidetracked early and often. We start with Halloween traditions (naturally) but then quickly get into a whole host of topics relating to the USMNT, including depth at the striker, theories on why we suddenly have so many wingers, the most trusted players in the pool, how to motivate the team to play against opponents who might be playing in the biggest game of their careers, and much much more! Plus, why marrying an engineer is a good idea and the challenges of understanding Bruce Arena.

and probably some random stuff along the way.

0:30.3

We've already talked to Stoan Ace off air because I'm joined by Jason Davis,

0:39.7

Oh, I knew this is coming.

0:41.6

Jason, any other things you learned from this past Halloween?

0:44.6

Well, I saw that you liked that tweet or you did.

0:47.2

The total soccer show specifically, the faceless entity that is the total soccer show, liked that tweet this morning.

0:53.7

And I thought, oh, that's going to come up. He's going to ask. He's going to say something about Halloween. Well, look, so I have a 13 year old who is in the late stages of his trick or tweeting experience. Now, the wrinkle there is he's also not a candy kid. Like he's not, it's just generally not his thing he likes jolly ranchers he's very specific

1:11.2

like some gummy stuff but you know if you give him the normal Halloween candy he's going to

1:15.8

mostly say nah I'm good he doesn't like chocolate that kind of stuff so I haven't really

1:20.5

and there's a split parental responsibility thing with him so I haven't really been involved in the

1:25.7

trick or treating thing for a little while and the other kid is nine months old trick-or-treating. I'm not going to put him in a costume and walk around the doorways and say, oh, trick-or-treat. I don't know if you consider that with Revi. It did not happen with us. And so at one point, our neighbor, who knows the neighborhood. You know, the one guy who knows everybody in the neighborhood, partly because he walks his dog and he knows all the dogs. He's like,

1:29.3

yeah, the scene is like four streets away. It's like hundreds of kids are walking around because we get, no, we got, okay, we got five or six people to stop by our house, but we're not the action street. And my wife, who did not grow up with the Halloween trick-or-treating experience. It's not a thing in Puerto Rico.

1:44.8

She goes, I want to see what's going on down there. And I said, okay, well, the, uh, Ouela has the baby for now. Let's jump in the car and we'll drive down there. We jump in the car, we drive down there. It's not very far, but it's dark and, you know, whatever. And you're lazy.

2:18.2

No, we could have done it but it would have taken

2:22.6

15 minutes there 15 minutes back you know just jump in the car add to the to the environmental

2:27.8

disaster we're all living through off to a salad start i know i'm such everybody loves me right now and we get we pull up to this

2:36.8

street and there are there's like a traffic jam of cars trying to maneuver around one another on a

2:42.4

relatively narrow residential street and i'm like what the hell's going on and i watch kids jump
