Hello, everybody and welcome back to psychedelics today. This is Joe Moore coming at you from

Breckenridge, Colorado. Today on the show, we have a past student of ours,

Micah Haskell Hale, who runs the group in Washington, D.C.

That goes by the name, Heal, Healing, Equity, and Liberation,

or Heal Organization.

So I'm going to read the bio we have from Micah.

Mike is the founder of healing, equity, and liberation or heal organization.

It is working to create a justice framework for psychedelic decriminalization, regulation, and healing using federal policy.

He has worked in federal policy for nearly two decades, including at Vera Institute of Justice and the American Psychological Association.

Micah's both found healing from depression through the substance use for which he's

been in long-term recovery for over eight years.

At Vera's Washington, D.C. office, Micah worked with Vera Center

and program leaders to raise a profile of their work with federal and state policymakers and their

staff, national coalitions, and partner organizations. Previously, he worked for American Psychological

Association for nearly 12 years, where he led federal policy

initiatives on criminal justice and children, youth, and families, and co-directed APA's Congressional

Fellowship. In his role there, he launched a national coalition devoted to behavioral health

and criminal justice, helped craft federal legislation addressing the needs of incarcerated pregnant woman and convened congressional briefings on police community relations and prison mental health.

Prior to joining APA, he worked in government relations at the college board.

Micah holds a BA in psychology from Indiana University, Bloomington,

with minors in American Studies in Political Science. All right. So healthy bio there.
