The birch show. So they got a coat pattern together here and the divorce is really, really fresh.

And it was time to have a birthday party for their daughter, but it was complicated over the weekend.

Really complicated. Yeah, her, um, she was in a happy marriage, thought they were living a

happy little family life. She's got two kids with her husband, one who's turning eight and an

older son. And out of the blue, her husband came to her and said, Hey, I'm having an affair,

and I can't turn off my feelings for the other woman. So then they separated and divorced,

and she didn't even get a chance to fight for her marriage and her family. Her kids understandably

were heartbroken by the divorce. Her older sons seem to kind of get that it wasn't what his mom

wanted and that it was his dad's fault and their relationship had been fractured because of it.

But the younger daughter who's turning eight loves dad, you know, wrapped around his finger. She adores

him. And mom to her credit says, I'd never do anything to change that. I'm not going to change

their relationship. Well, her daughter really wants dad and his new friend, aka the woman that

ended their marriage to come to the birthday party that mom is throwing. And mom's torn like,

do I let him come knowing my son isn't going to do well with it? It's the first time my family

is going to see my ex-husband. It's going to be tough for me. Or do I not invite him knowing that

it's going to crush the birthday girl, my eight year old daughter's heart. And we were really

torn on the show, but kind of the consensus at the end was you got to talk to your son.

Sometimes we have to do things we don't like and we're doing this for the good of the daughter

and you got to suck it up and rip the bandaid off. What a lovely recap, Cassie. She's so thorough.
