cleared Lafayette Square outside of the White House so that the President could pose in

front of a boarded up church. The events tied together themes that we were already seeing,

overwhelming use of police force, surprise movements from the President, criticism that

the move was an abuse of power. For good measure, throwing some mixed messages from the White

House and BC News is now reporting that Wednesday, the President is backing off his threat

to use the Insurrection Act to send troops into U.S. cities and clearly his defense secretary

is feeling some heat too, wanting to show some distance from the President's actions on
