So for those I know how I came across you initially but for those who don't know you kind of give a brief introduction of who you are

Sure my name is Lauren and I'm a mother of four but I'm also a restaurant owner in Rifle Colorado and

through my restaurant I developed an advocacy for the Second Amendment. We

first opened in 2013. It was just a Western themed restaurant.

We wanted to provide excellent service to our community.

But shortly after we opened our doors, there was an altercation

where a man was brutally beaten outside of my restaurant.

He lost his life.

And that immediately prompted the question in

me how am I going to protect everyone? How am I going to defend the people who are

around me? So I didn't have time to go through the bureaucracy of obtaining a concealed

carry weapons permit. I've had training. I had I had some firearms and had

done some tactical training even and I didn't have time to go through the bureaucracy of

the classes and paying my government a fee to prove my innocence and wait to obtain

a concealed carry handgun permit.

So I took advantage of Colorado's open carry laws and I began to open carry.

Soon after that, my waitresses began to carry and the next thing you know,

shooter's girl was being called the safest restaurant in America.

So it's been really interesting but through this I have seen a lot of knee-jerk

reactions take place in Colorado from the magazine capacity bands that we've seen all

the way to red flag laws and so I've always just advocated against these these gun legislations, these gun control bills, through the

avenue of my restaurant. And in 2019, we were all proved right.
