| 0:50.9 | piping plurver I had never seen one up close and then a dog runs after them |
| 0:57.9 | and then kids are up on the dunes and I'm like oh my god this is awful. Who's |
| 1:02.9 | gonna do something you know? Chris contacted the National Park Service and |
| 1:07.0 | together they set up volunteer training. Today the Plurver Project has a |
| 1:11.5 | volunteer force of about 75 volunteers also walk the beach asking people to |
| 1:17.3 | respect areas the park service has blocked off for the plurvers. They don't |
| 1:21.3 | always listen and volunteering can be heartbreaking raccoons and ghost |
| 1:25.9 | crabs eat plurver eggs, flooding washes away nests, but the Plurver Project |
| 1:31.0 | perseveres and so do the plurvers. Here's Leanne again. You're working with |
| 1:36.2 | birds but it's also a very humbling and human experience to care about |
