you know, black members of the church stood even spoke out against the

priesthood ban in the 40s, 1940s and 50s, and had not only a public debate with another BYU professor in a national magazine,

but also had several exchanges with the Mormon Church First Presidency and eventually this led to kind of

forced the hand of the Mormon Church First Presidency which led to one of the first, if not the first, sort of

of a doctrinal affirmations of the priesthood ban, which later gets reinterpreted as the opinions of church leaders, not necessarily

doctrine, just policy.
