0:00.0 | Hello, everybody. Welcome to the latest edition of Pollock and Thurston interview. The man in the hot seat today getting ready for probably their biggest week of the year coming up with all of the events in and around Los Angeles, California. He is the COO of FightTV Mike Weber back here on the program. Mike, how are you? |
0:19.0 | It is the calm before the storm. I guess next week as you guys have first of all, is this your biggest week of the year in terms of volume and engagement? |
0:29.0 | It is a strong weekend. It is a very big weekend. The thing is, as we progress, it seems like we are getting more and more weekends like this all the time. There is a weekend in the mid-April. You can't believe how many different wrestling shows we have. You know, have impact AAA and New Japan all the same weekend and OVW and so forth. |
0:49.0 | Yeah, it is a big weekend for us. It is sort of nice. It is all at one location there. We got about 18 shows this weekend. Actually, we have done as many as 35 shows during WrestleMania weekend when WrestleMania was in New York. There is just a lot more opportunities in New York than it was LA for live shows. |
1:09.0 | Yeah, we are real excited about what we get going on next week. |
1:13.0 | This has also been the launch of Fight Plus this year. We wanted to talk a bit with you about how long this has been in the pipeline and the idea of creating a subscription model as opposed to the Allocart viewing that FightTV has very much popularized within the Pro Wrestling Landscape. |
1:34.0 | Yeah, we have been working on subscription services called Fight Plus here for about two years, sort of more than all the pandemic when we are looking to expand when also we didn't have this many live shows. |
1:46.0 | So Fight Plus has been a great addition to the team. It has really taken off here in the last several months since we have at GCW and of course bare knuckle fighting is on there as well now. |
1:57.0 | So we get some great content on the platform and of course in LA, you know, GCW has had the collective for a number of years putting together in this year they got 11 shows but they announced May is 15 in this weekend. |
2:14.0 | People have paid as much as 135, 150, 165 dollars to watch all the GCW shows as a bundle. |
2:23.0 | Now they are all available on Fight Plus and frankly, you know, you can buy a whole annual membership for only $69 to do Fight Plus. |
2:34.0 | So it is actually a great deal for the fans to see the program and they want. |
2:39.0 | The GCW this year has got some great stuff now with the, you know, the 7th annual Joey Janela Spring Break, the 9th annual Josh Barnett Bloodsport DDT of course, happy is big gay lunch. |
2:55.0 | So it goes on on, they have a great lineup of shows there on top of that and of course we got some other events which are offered as a stand alone, but they are unique events in themselves and you know, the impact wrestling in New Japan coming together for a joint event called Metaverse. |
3:12.0 | Tokyo Joshi, Japanese women's wrestling coming to LA, it's got a very strong bowling, of course, a ring of honors, got their events of, you know, super card of honor under a direction of Tony Connell and there's some great events to showcase that weekend. |
3:32.0 | And Fight has all different methods of distribution for the content, some of it is free, some of it is part of the Fight Plus subscription and some of it as you said is stand alone. |
3:42.0 | There's one of what goes into deciding how it's going to be offered to the viewer and whether that's a deal that you make with the partner themselves or are there other considerations. |
3:53.0 | Well, you use a key turn, everybody here is a partner of ours, so we make decisions together, not in a vacuum, but we also, you know, we've done over a thousand live events a year. |
4:05.0 | So we have a lot of analytics of what works and what's the most beneficial to an organization and sometimes it's a stand alone pay-per-view and sometimes it is free. |
4:15.0 | I mean, we do OBW shows every Thursday night, excuse me for free. |
4:20.0 | And of course, in the subscription service, one thing we are taking account right now is, as we definitely know, the economy has changed. |
4:30.0 | And, you know, people really think about how they spend their harder and money and that's why the Fight Plus has become a great opportunity now to spread your take advantage of the |
