Okay, this is Beth. Listen, what we live for at Living Proof is to serve people the Word

of God. We base our ministry on Hebrews 4.12 that tells us that the Word is alive and

active. We pray this message is going to serve you in some way today and that God is

going to speak through it. Thank you so much for giving us this privilege.

We're studying the priesthood together. We're studying the priesthood and we began the

study of the priesthood to my surprise and perhaps to many of your surprises as well,

with Cain and Abel. It never would have occurred to me. I meant to start right here in Genesis

chapter 14. Never would have occurred to me that we'd have been back and up, push and

rewind all the way back to Genesis chapter 4 and learning about Cain and Abel. But we learned

that they were acting as priests when they brought those gifts, those offerings before

God. And so we studied it because we got to see as the New Testament priesthood that

there was something about Cain's offering that was not acceptable and something about Abel's

offering that was and it was critical to us to understand. So now we're going to pick

up in Genesis chapter 14. It's going to seem we're just picking up in the middle of the

chapter and that's exactly what we're doing. But I'll give you a little bit of context

but I want to stay very, very thematic this morning. I want to stay with our topic.

Genesis 14. I'm going to pick up at verse 14. 14, 14. When Abram heard that his relative

had been taken captive and it's talking about lot, he called out the 318 trained men

born in his household. So this is going to be servants of servants. These are going

to be workmen that have come alongside him. He's got quite a huge estate at this point

in the book of Genesis. So all the men that either serve him or work under him in some

capacity, they're all within 318 trained men born in his household and went and pursued
