Summary

In this episode, Lorenz and Shaw use their weekly over-under segments to preview the Michigan football team's matchup against No. 14 Iowa and offer their final prediction for the game.

First, they look at how well Michigan might be able to pass on the Hawkeyes mostly inexperienced pass defense, and why that might be the key to breaking a statistically elite overall defense that Iowa brings. After that, they dissect what can be read about Michigan's run game woes, Iowa's run defense and how the Wolverines are splitting their carries. We also take a peek at Michigan's offensive line, Nick Eubanks and what kind of game plan Michigan might utilize.

Then, we break down how Michigan's defense stacks up against the Hawkeyes. We break down Nate Stanley and Iowa's new-look passing attack, the Hawkeyes' experienced running backs committee, and what strengths and weaknesses Iowa has along the offensive line. We break down some of Michigan's emerging players on defense, who will be tested more than in previous seasons and how disruptive the Wolverines can be.

We close with our final assessment of the matchup and prediction for Saturday's game.

I'm your host, Sackshaw. We got Steve Lorenz back in here. Thank you so much to David Eicholt yesterday, helping us get to know the Hawkeyes and preview the matchup.

I know some of the Michigan content that we discussed, you've probably heard before,

0:21.4

or it might have been a little repetitive.

0:23.6

So with that in mind, we're going to do a shorter version of our more traditional preview.

0:29.3

I don't think either of us can pretend to break down Iowa better than Icult did.

0:34.3

But we can still talk about some of the topics that are going on with the Wolverines,

0:37.7

some of the things we're watching from the Maze in Blue this weekend.

0:42.4

That said, I think we can probably jump right into our over-unders,

0:44.9

and we'll just thread in different topics or subjects or things we're looking out for

0:49.0

throughout because there are 12 over-unders after all.

0:52.1

Last week, I beat you.

0:53.1

I went 8 out of 12. You went 6 out of 12, even though I think you got all the passing points right.

0:58.6

But I'm 31 out of 50 and Steve is 28 out of 50.

1:01.8

But Steve, let's start with Shea Patterson, 249.5 passing yards for Patterson.

1:09.2

I'll let you go first and then I'll throw you my answer.

1:14.6

249. I got to say under. Okay. Not indicative maybe of a lack of success that Michigan will have.

1:24.0

I just 240. What do you have 276 last week? Right. Yeah. I mean, I'll just,

1:29.6

I'll play safe, go with the under. I think they're going to, I think they'll be able to run the

1:34.0

ball a little more effectively than people believe they will on Saturday. So I'll take the under on

1:38.3

that. Okay. I'm going to take the over. I don't know where they're going to, where or how they're going to run the ball.

1:48.9

Iowa, you know, they haven't been tested. We've talked about it yesterday.
