Checker Board designed in the 19th century for the lands of the West opening up, one public

square, one private square in a checkerboard fashion. These are not the lands that were claimed by the settlers, the lowlands, where you could

build a farm. These are the uplands, the highlands, the mountains. And today there is a challenge

because people want to walk in the public lands, but the

checker board prevents that because it comes to a dot.

All checker boards come to a dot, the square, and they ignore the complication of going

on private land without permission.

Terry has a solution.

It's complicated.

It requires knocking on a door.
