behind a man named Al Jalani. Those militias have always been part of the mix that Iran

deploys across the Middle East, across the Shia crescent.

I mean, the thing is, is that what we are watching right now is a panoply of Shia militias that have

been active in both Syria and Iraq. They've been, of course,

been firing on American forces. They've been firing drones and missiles at the Israelis.

Their presence is undisputed at this point, and they're significant. These are militias

that are nominally aligned with the states where they are based, but they are more loyal to the regime in Iran.

And they've been part and parcel of that axis that has been fighting Israel, fighting America since October 7th.

So watching, you know, Iraqi, Shia militiasias going into Syria, I don't see it's a distinction

without much of a difference when you look at the Shia militias that are already based in Syria.
