Recently I've been reporting on the exit of major franchises, the most recent Nordstrom's

exit from fifth and market, the center of the tourist part of San Francisco.

I have not been there recently and Victor helped me understand what it's like to walk down

Market Street and the difficulty to imagine San Francisco repairing itself without a major

change in Sacramento is Victor.

When I was growing up, the center of power and money and influence was conservative
