This is John Batstra, conversation with my good colleague Chris Regal of scholar.com, a report

that the Chinese companies that have been blacklisted in the US for security reasons for

dumping for violations of sanctions, whatever. Are hiring or buying or standing behind American companies

and that they believe that that will be a way back into the US market

despite the blacklisting. I ask Chris, do they believe they can

get away with this? It doesn't seem very complicated. And Chris reports not only on the US, but the EU and the UK seeing this phenomenon of

blacklisted companies sneaking back in or hiding behind.

John, the Chinese play a very long game and they're very smart about playing that long game.

Within this, if you try something a hundred times and it's successful twice, that might be good enough in terms of their success rate on it.

But they will not stop and they're aware now that both in the United States and the EU

that governments are starting to look at the unfair competition

coming from China and how to level set that playing field. The challenge is really

the Chinese will also use lobbyists in DC, will use lobbyists in Brussels and in London

to try to influence operations for their good.

It's do we play the long game as well and able to counterbalance that long-term as well and able to counterbalance that long-term advanced persistent threat.
