This is John Bachelor speaking with my colleague Mary Kistel, Executive Vice President Stevens Incorporated, many years in Hong Kong for the Wall Street Journal editorial page.

We turn to a story in the Wall Street Journal about demography in China, the one-child

policy of the late 20th century, has doomed China to a shrinking population for the balance of this century. One child

was cruel, it didn't work, it continued to abuse the Chinese people. A Mary addresses what this means about the Chinese Communist Party, about dictatorships such

as the CCP.

And if there's anything to learn here from the tragedy of the Chinese people, it is

do not intervene in human nature.

Here's Mary Kessel, the one child policy, and now a shrinking population for the balance of the century

so that 1.4 billion people today with a hope of prosperity will turn to under 600 million perhaps under 500 million with no hope of prosperity at the end of the century according to projections. Here's Mary Kessel.

Yes that's true and with respect to the Wall Street Journal who I used to work for I think that was a very

strange article. The point wasn't that a totalitarian leader took the wrong guys advice.

The point is that the Chinese Communist Party does not view human beings as an asset.

They view individual people as part of a collective that

should be used and manipulated and sometimes killed to promote the party's

interests. 30 seconds, Mary. China has engaged in and sometimes

me. China has engaged in forced sterilizations.

They continue to do that to this day.

They do not respect human rights.

And by the way, this is a practice that democracies have engaged

in too. Recall Indira Gandhi in the late 70s 75-77 where more than six million

Indian men were sterilized to the cheers of, you know, technocrats in the United States

and at the United Nations.
