From a conversation with my colleague Jerry Hendrix, US Navy, retired

aviator, Captain, now at the Sagamore Institute, about the missions for the Navy that are not adequately supported by

shipyards in the United States.

The question of what is to be done about shipyards.

In the meantime, we look at the missions and one of them is war fighting.

Jerry points to this that the US Navy does not have adequate forces now to confront a Chinese move on Taiwan and the region.

The number of submarines laid up is large.
