This is John Bachelor, a conversation with Henry Sikalsky of the Non-Proliferation Policy Education Center about

orbit, Earth Orbit, and war, militarizing and war fighting, low-Earth orbit, medium-Earth orbit, War, Henry examines what is underway right now, which is the creation of the ability to move between

those three platforms in the event of war fighting on the surface of the Pacific Ocean

or on the surface of the Earth. There are creations now new

machines, robots called space tugs that can be used to move Leo orbit, very simple low-Earth orbit, to a higher

orbit in the event of conflict.

You need to replace higher Earth orbit.

There's also a reimagining going on about what warfare

will look like, say in Taiwan or say in the North Atlantic with Leo, Leo, and Geo, part of the contest, with space-faring nations,

Russia and China, combining their ability to dominate or attempt to dominate Leo, Meo, and Geo.

Recently there was an article from the PLA treating Starlink of SpaceX as an enemy weapon that can be turned into suicide

satellites. It's all new and Henry examines what this new battlefield means for the future.

Well, first, just a mild correction.

We have satellites, They're very important in mid-orbit and geo, which are higher than Leo. But the great, great hope is that if you proliferate like Mr. Mus

Starley, thousands of objects in low Earth orbit you can you can replace these exquisite and

expensive satellites that are higher up. I think we've gone you you know, in the public discussion, perhaps a bit too far in

hyping what low-Earth Orbit can do because you still want to have medium earth orbit and geo and maybe even

orbit things around the moon conceivably to really have awareness and control of space.

So what the tugs do is they allow energy modules, if you will little boosters to be placed on the launch nose in front of

the satellite that the launchers launching and when the launcher has done its work, this booster

can take over and bring that object all the way to Geo in a matter of a day.
