| 1:03.1 | encroachment of being able to take infrastructure, embed themselves into specific industries, |
| 1:10.1 | little by little take over critical areas of multiple |
| 1:14.9 | countries in the Western Hemisphere. So with Panama, they did this really right before the |
| 1:21.2 | turnover of the canal. As you mentioned, the Canal Treaty was signed in 79. The turnover happened in |
| 1:26.7 | 99. Two years prior to that, in, China immediately, understanding the importance of this, |
| 1:32.1 | began to bid for concessions on operating two of the ports of the canal, and they have |
| 1:35.5 | been operating it ever since. |
| 1:36.8 | They had a 20-year concession that they just renewed two years ago for another 20 years, |
| 1:41.0 | so they have a long time for the concessions on the canal. |
| 1:44.0 | The companies from China that operate these canal are companies that are intrinsically tied |
| 1:50.0 | to China's military, the PLA, the People's Liberation Army. |
