He's in Okinawa, Nago, the city in the middle of the long thin island of Okinawa, the scene of ferocious fighting in 1945, one of the

last of the challenges before the US focused on

destroying the Japanese Imperial Navy and Army

with their power.

Nago was also the scene of the death of a very famous war correspondent, combat

corresponded as Michael says. Ernie Pyle. He died in the Battle of

Okinawa but on a small island called Eashima, which is off the coastline,

not far from where Michael is right now, Nago, and he describes his visit to a monument where Ernie Pyle died and the inscription on the

monument. And then Michael makes a very good case for a combat

correspondent compared to a war correspondent. Combat correspondent is where you
