This is John Bachelor, conversation with my colleague Katrina Vandenhova, the editorial director and

publisher of the Nation magazine, about the prospects for peace or peace talks or cease-fire

talks in Ukraine conflict after the presidential debate laid out positions

of one, Mr Biden, continuing to whatever it takes as long as it takes to resist Russian aggression and

to Mr. Trump speaking of settling the war by inauguration day.

Katrina Vanenova looks at the incoming leadership for NATO and for the EU,

two Hawks, Mark Rute, for NATO to be the general secretary from the north of Europe and even from the farther north of Europe Kajakales from Estonia

to be the top diplomat at the EU, a Hawk.

I met him many years ago. In fact I translated, I interpreted for

He's very hawkish. I'm sad to report that my homeland, the Netherlands,

is very hawkish across the board. And then there's the EU and I believe I want to say the

Estonian Prime Minister a woman is going to be head of the OSCE or EU which is

and the hawkishness of the Baltics may be better understood but it's very

hawkish in terms of Russia and very fear mongering in terms of any kind of dialogue even.
