This is John Bachelor, conversation with Bob Zimmerman about Hubble down to one gyroscope, meaning it can no longer take sharp pictures of the universe.

What is to be done to fix it, however, there is a private space mission scheduled for later this year offering

to fix the Hubble, install more gyroscopes. NASA so far has said no no and Bob here explains why. It's odd too because with just

one gyroscope NASA is now maintaining a less than optimum very successful space robot less than optimum

No, this has always been repaired multiple times by shuttle astronauts a NASA government operation.

This would be a private operation using a private rocket, a private capsule, private spacesuits, and private citizens to fix it.

And there is evidence that there are people in NASA just simply don't want that to happen

because we'll be invading their turf. I think a lot of it has more to do

with just simply over-caution. They don't want to take risks and they'd be giving the job to

somebody outside their control and that scares them.
