This is John Batchel, a conversation with good colleague Bob Zimmerman of Behind the Black about the appointed new administrator for NASA, Jared Isaacman, an astronaut, a jet pilot, a spacewalker, and a man who understands bottom line.

And Bob is looking forward to how Mr. Iszeman is going to deal with SLS, a disappointment, Orion, a

disappointment. Man space returned to the moon, a disappointment the way NASA has approached it

over the years. And Bob has another vision of how Isaacman can manage Congress that funded SLS and Orion,

the American people's expectations, and the technology that's now available in competition

by private space, commercial space.

No, one of the reasons I think this plan will be what will happen is because, first of all, there's a lot of movement right now

to cut SLS and Orion because they're just not up to the task and they're dangerous. But I'm talking

about in Washington there's a lot of movement in that way. But I think also, if you encourage capitalism in lower Earth orbit among many, many

different companies, you're going to be working right to the desires of congressmen and politicians.

Those four space stations involve almost every major company in the United States aerospace

company.

So if you're helping those four projects, you are definitely going to be sending money into

every district in the country that's interested in space.

So I don't think it's good.

I think politically it's the right way to go.
